A Mother's Nightmare

This is my nightmare. (Thankfully, everyone survived thanks to a smart, responsible pilot.)

When we were flying into Reagan I flashed back to January 1982 when a plane crashed into the icy Potomac river. I always ask myself, "How would I get the kids out?" When I fly now, I know where the seat cushions are, the flotation devices, the emergency exits, and I know if there is a life boat. Is that just being a mother or am I in mental danger?

Hello! Why do you think I sit in or near the emergency row whenever possible?!

Oh, AND I refused to fly into National for several years when I first moved to VA...way too scary. Irrational, I know, but still...

Now we know that in case of a water landing, you DO NOT go to the back of the plane. Front and sides only. They can't open the back door without flooding the plane.
