The Random Things That Don't Quite Make a Post

I made injera bread, a lentil & pea stew, and corn-mashed potatoes and we ate Ethiopian tonight. It was very yummy and reminded me of my favorite restaurant Meskerem.

Every time I put something away, Kyri gets two new things and deposits them in places far from where they belong. Today, she is so intent on this she can't make it to the potty either. She is pushing the edges of my sanity.

Ben got onto the computer and looked up the whole programming schedule for PBS Kids. He now tells me every half an hour what cartoon is on and then runs around in the interim singing "PBS Kids.org." Oh, really, I am going to lose it.

We struck a deal on cartoons awhile back where he gets to choose two a day. He likes "Curious George." Lately as I'm making dinner I will listen. That little monkey has gotten very pc lately. Some of the global warming, environmental business doesn't sound very Rey-like to me. I'm not terribly concerned but it is a reminder that I have to be ever-vigilant about what is on the television.

Kyri gets very cold in the night because she won't stay under her blankets and has ended up in our bed the last couple of nights for part of the night. This morning she wanted to get up at 5:30am. I said "fine" and got her out of bed and went back to mine. Mike found her asleep on the bottom stair when he got up. He asked if she wouldn't rather sleep under the Christmas tree and she said, "uh-huh" and he wrapped her in a blanket and put her to sleep there.

We have had temperatures below freezing for the last several days. The next couple of days are supposed to involve snow, rain, and then freezing temperatures which could make it very interesting. People in our part of the world freak out if they see a snowflake. I rather like the snow but wish my kids had boots. I haven't bought them because it seems a waste for two days of the year. But now here we are and no boots. I think I will dig out Ben's old boots from when he was two and see if they will fit Kyri (who is smaller at this age, but oh well!).

How cute (sorta) about Kyrie sleeping under the CHristmas tree.

I SO HEAR YOU about kid boots. The one and only reason Joshua has some (I had the same mindset as you!) is because I found them at Goodwill for $0.99. You just can't beat that and they are perfect for us this season!

But yes...the weather here is getting a little interesting.

I'm doing rain boots and lots of socks this year, as I couldn't find any snow boots second hand. Most years it would be worth it for us to get the snow boots, though.

Recipes? I love Ethiopian food! I've been trying to do a project on African animals with the kids and it might expand over into other things African.
