from the mom
M was out and it was rest time for the kids and for the mom who made food for a dinner party tonight (the guests went way off course and are going to be over an hour late so the food is in the oven keeping warm and I have time to post) and for a potluck tomorrow. I was reading in my room when I heard a loud noise and saw a car still swinging around from hitting the curb on the road we can see out our window. It had to be flying as it managed to run over a small tree and narrowly missed knocking down a fence and falling into the gully. The driver gave it several attempts to get the car back over the tree and then hopped out of the passenger door pushing around the deployed airbag and ran around the car trying to figure out how to move it. He was very frantic and I was on the phone calling 9-1-1 as I watched him.
I was thankful I didn't have a burglar in the house as it took until the 4th ring for anyone to answer. As I was giving my location and description I watched him give up on the car and take off running out of there. I told the operator this and she asked for a description of what he was wearing, features, etc.... I watched as other cars stopped and called her and I told her she would be getting other calls. She laughed and told me they were coming in. She took my name and number and hung up. Then the police arrived. He walked around the car, inspected it, and called in the plates. Another police office arrived and one went in search of the suspect.
Suddenly I saw the driver appear with a girl. He was in different clothes and appeared to have cleaned up, maybe taken a shower. He had gone from a t-shirt to a rugby shirt and his backward cap had been removed and his hair looked like he had just done it. He nonchalantly made small talk with the officer, pulled out his wallet from the car for him and then he (the driver) started diverting traffic another direction.
My rest was well over and I was working now, checking on the scene occasionally. When I next looked out, the driver was being cuffed and put in the police car and the vehicle was being towed. All the franticness must have been because there was either a warrant out for his arrest, he was driving uninsured, without a license, or intoxicated.
And that was the drama for the day.

Wow! That's nuts.
wow, that is a lot of drama. I'm so curious now! lol!
If this guy decides to fight his case in court, you better hope none of the attorneys run accross your blog and subpoena you as a witness!
Sean - that was such a lawyerly thing to say :)
