from the mom
Our best stretch of summer weather has been the last two weeks when it has been sunny and generally in the 70s. Tomorrow it is supposed to get up to 86. But it cools down at night and the house hasn't been hot at all. It is so close to perfect that I continue to hold my breath wishing it would last for at least another month.
I experienced my first parks and recreation cattle call registration over the weekend and signed Ben up for mad science preschool and a sports course for the fall. I am taking pilates which has an amazing effect on my bad back when I am consistent. We spent time at the park and time with friends and I ignored the state of the house. It will start raining soon enough and I can clean.
Yesterday we left the kids with my aunt Sandi who had crates of toys for them to play with, along with a piano (that she plays). M and I went off to the Seahawks game where we were able to see my grandma, Uncle Darold, and cousin Kris. I'm not sure how many of you have 87-year old grandmothers that go to professional football games, but I think mine is a pretty cool lady.
It was sunny and warm and the fans were insane and the volume in the stadium at high pitch. I'm still hoarse from screaming during the very entertaining game. Ultimately, things didn't end so well when the Hawks lost to the 49ers in overtime. But it was fun none-the-less.
We ended a late night with dinner with my aunt, Uncle Rick, and cousin Scott who entertained us with stories of his summer fishing in Alaska.
Ben told my aunt earlier in the day that he wanted to be a doctor. When she told us at dinner M asked him if he wouldn't rather be a football player. "No, I wouldn't. I want to be a doctor," he said. "I'm sick. What should I do?" M asked. "Go to the hospital," he said. Sound advice perhaps, but expensive.

sounds like a nice weekend. We have been loving all this warm, sunny weather too!
If Ben wants to be a doctor, you should definitely look for the book *Doctor Ted*. Hilarious. Actually it's pretty funny even if you don't have a preschooler pretending to be a doctor.
