from the mom
We went to Oregon this weekend to see my family and to celebrate my little bro's 32nd. We met friends (who happen to be photographers) for a round of mini-golf to celebrate.
While M, my dad, and brother played tennis, my mom and I took the kids to the Sweet Pea Cafe, a cafe designed for kids and the adults who love them. Here is a blogpost from a blogger unknown to me who posted some photos. Everything was very affordable and the four of us enjoyed our lunch there.
We went next door to a kids consignment shop and found sandals for the kids for our Mexico trip. Kyri is going to be a flower girl with a long dress on a beach. She needed white sandals but I wasn't real keen on paying much since they won't be seen and they will be used for the beach. $3.95 was a decent price. And I found Ben some comfy sandals that can be worn in the water.
The shop also consigns toys and Kyrie fell in love with a little baby doll that had a passy. She sat and held that doll and hugged it. When it was time to leave, she told me what a horrific crime it is to take a mother from her child. She told me loudly and we exited the store quickly with her screaming and wailing at her loss. I was so tempted to just buy it, but it seemed the wrong message to send at the end of a tantrum. But she does love her baby dolls (when I went to get her from her crib this morning she was kissing her baby doll and telling it sweet things.)
