Thursday musings

from the mom

Summer has truly arrived in western Washington and with it, my zest for life. I haven't been tired (except after 10pm) in several weeks. Yeah, pretty much corresponds to the arrival of the sun. My attitude and energy-level are both greatly improved.

I fully expected one of the candidates to announce their VP choice on the Fourth of July. It seemed like a good PR move to me, particularly for Obama who has a little trouble convincing people of his patriotism at times. But obviously I am not advising either campaign and we wait.

Apparently 90 evangelical leaders met July 1 and endorsed McCain and then asked him to consider putting Mike Huckabee on his ticket. Hmmm.... I am still baffled at the support for Huckabee despite his pro-union leanings and budget failures, but I have long ago realized that I am a true limited government conservative and that this is often distinctive from so-called evangelical voters who often want to control government rather than limit. Read more here.

This election cycle is so long and wearing....Perhaps that's why it seems we are long overdue for VP announcements.
