from the mom
When we were married we had enough money to buy a bed. We were sure more furniture would be bought soon. I determined never to move my falling apart dresser, table and chairs, nightstand, and assorted living room chairs. In our 5 years of marriage, these items have made three moves. We have had to leave at least one chair in the dumpster at every move because it was beyond repair. We finally reached the point where we really couldn't have people over for dinner because we didn't have enough chairs. My parents learned to bring their own (from Oregon).
Other than a new couch we bought just over a year ago, we have chosen children over new furniture. And having children makes you think twice about wanting new furniture. There is nothing they can do to destroy our melange of battered hand-me-downs.
But as we came up on meeting a financial goal and a table we really liked went on sale at a store where we had a good coupon, we made the plunge. We only bought four chairs but the table can seat 8 and so we are hoping to add a few more chairs soon. At least you don't have to bring your own chair if we invite you for dinner.

We love your new table! Thanks for having us over the other night;)
Hi Rachelle! I can totally relate. All we could afford at first was a bed. Our furniture is mostly a random collection from family and friends, but I kind of like it that way!
It's very pretty!
Congratulations on the beautiful new table and chairs. You deserve it!!
