from the mom
Yesterday we left Kyri with her great Aunt Sandi and took Ben to the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra. I've been wanting Ben to see what it looks like when classical musical is played and we had a coupon that let the three of us go for the price of one adult ticket. M had never attended the symphony either and I felt privileged to be with them as they experienced it.
The SYSO is the largest youth symphony in the U.S. and yesterday's performance featured Joshua Roman in an amazing cello solo by Walton. Also performed was "Too Hot Toccata" whose composer guest-conducted yesterday. And Tender Land Suite by Aaron Copland and Schumann's Symphony No. 3.
It was a little long for a 4-year old but Ben enjoyed checking out Benaroya Hall. At intermission he insisted we were "all done." We'll probably wait a few years before we take him again but the experience was well worth it.
Afterward we went to dinner with my aunt, uncle, and cousin to celebrate my uncle's birthday.

That is so great, Rachelle. I know Ben already has a love for music. That is fantastic that you are helping to expose him more and encourage him to love it. And what a precious memory to get dressed up and go on a special date with mom and dad!
