Kyri believes she is communicating with us. Unfortunately, her native tongue appears to be an Asian dialect, Chinese I think. Everything is multi-syllabic, but the sounds are too soft for Vietnamese. Every once in a while I'll hear something I think I recognize if I peel away a few syllables. But overall, I'm grateful she is good at body language.
Ben discovered the convenience of having the guest bed in his room (his room moved to the guest room). He has taken to leaping from bed to bed. His father encouraged this last night when it all started. Not the smartest thing. We had one catastrophe when he missed earlier today. Meanwhile, the mattresses are breaking down. But since his father taught him to do it, I'm not certain how to forbid it altogether. I have accomplished getting him to only leap onto his own bed which has a much stronger frame.

Well...one fat lip (when he doesn't make it to the next bed and hits a corner or something) may work. I hope it doesn't come to that though!

What are fathers good for but to encourage the kids to take risks Mommy would absolutely prohibit?
At one time we forbade A&S from jumping on any beds... except Addie's. They could jump on hers all they wanted. (It was a garage-sale frame and mattress.) Surprisingly, it worked well, and then they lost interest, and don't jump on beds anymore. Unless Stuart is watching a movie in our room and can't help himself.
Oh, and I love the description of Kyri's Chinese. Have you sat her down in front of the Baby Signing Time videos? Daph is mesmerized by them and has learned some signs, too. She says the word as she signs, so it's like an in-built translation service.
