from the mom
We went to Spokane for the weekend to celebrate my grandma's 87th birthday and the birthday of her younger brother (84) and older sister (90) and brother-in-law (90). It is a long trip, particularly for Kyri who isn't fond of travel at this point in her life.
So I checked with her doctor at her appointment last week and she thought it would be ok to turn Kyri's car seat around (even though she is still a few ounces shy of 20 lbs.).
Kyri thought it was the best! She would smile and laugh at her dad as he watched her from the rearview mirror and she kept pointing forward to all the things she was seeing. It kept her going for a good hour and she made it almost 4 hours before she became cantankerous and started yelling. A 15-minute stop at a rest stop with a trail helped some but she was happy to run when we arrived at Fairchild Air Force Base. My uncle was able to get us a house for the weekend for $43/night.
We spent Saturday with family eating and visiting. Ben and Kyri were delighted to play with their second cousin Dawson and admire his sister McKenzie.
Sunday we went downtown Spokane with my parents, brother, aunt, uncle, and cousin Scott. We walked across Spokane Falls (on bridges), and the kids rode the carousel. Kyri was terrified the whole time and then pointed to it afterward as if she wanted to try again.
It was a fun weekend but Kyri, especially, was glad to be home late Sunday night.
