from the mom
This was one of the most pleasant holiday seasons I can remember. M took a couple of extra days off and I was completely spoiled. Monday, Ben woke up and I told him to go say "hi" to Daddy. "Daddy's at work," he said, fully aware of the days. M usually goes to work early, before the kids are up. "No Daddy's in bed," I told him. "No, Daddy had to go to work." Then he went in to check, incredulous.
Today we are back to reality, except that it is a 3-day work/school week. Yay!
I did more Christmasy things than usual. I did some cleaning and reorganization. We enjoyed time together as a family. Kyri slept 10 1/2 hours STRAIGHT one night (12/30). M and I both had nearly 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, a first in over a year.
I loved coming upon Ben playing as he sang "Angels We Have Heard On High." Kyri loved unwrapping presents and Ben loved everything about Christmas.
Kyri only successfully used the potty once but she dutifully goes and sits on it whenever she finds herself naked. She loves toilet paper and she unrolls it while she sits there unless I give her countless books to read. It is really cute.
Meanwhile Ben has a cold and has gone through a box and a half of tissue today. Invest in paper products!

I love this time of the year for all those short work-weeks and long luxurious weekends! It totally spoils one for the return to real life, though. Glad you're getting some rest!
Glad you got at least one long night of sleep. Maybe more in the near future??
