To Portland and Back

from the mom

Last week M, Kyri and I went to New England for 5 days. M had a work conference in Portland and I had a $50 companion pass to fly with him. Ben stayed with my parents since we could neither afford the expense of taking him and it isn't normal for 3 year olds to enjoy cross-country travel.

I've spent time in Maine before and hoped to get back to some favorite places. The rainy grey weather deterred me from visiting my favorite scenic spots but we did have some good times. We ended with a day and a half in Boston.

Some highlights:

-visiting with Lindsay
-a ferry ride in Casco Bay and out to Peak's Island for a lobster bake
-The Bar of Chocolate in Portland, Maine
-Freeport, the U.S. largest outlet mall but housed in cute historic New England houses instead of an ugly strip mall

And fortunately after four days of rain, the sun broke out for our day and a half in Boston.
