from the mom
I was doing a bit of packing for a trip today when I came into my room to find my neatly folded stacks of clothes had all been moved to the dirty clothes basket.
In addition to finding dirty dishes in the garbage, we now find them in the sink, courtesy of "Mr. Everything Should Be In Its Place." (That would not be the father.)
Ben loves to clean and continues to be neurotic about things being "messy." The good news is if I ever have something on my face, he is sure to tell me I have a "messy face" and save me the embarrassment of being seen with spaghetti sauce above my lip.
He is turning into a bossy older brother. He'll often declare "Kyri all done" and turn off her dvd. (Yes, I'm a bad parent who uses a dvd now and then to get some housework done.) He is helping her learn sign language and will ask her with signs and words while she is eating if she wants more or if she is all done. She thinks he's hilarious and appreciates that he recognizes she knows her own mind.
We went out with friends to celebrate good news (theirs) recently and Ben finished his dinner and began putting on his coat, declaring "time to go." It took some convincing that some of us were not finished yet and he needed to wait.
He talks CONSTANTLY now and is much more intelligible. It is hard to remember he is the same child who was so silent for sooooo long. Now it is hard to get a word in edge-wise. And music to my ears.
