from the mom
We had just a little too much fun over the weekend. Mike was able to go golfing with my brother, and their friends Chris and Joe. Then while some were at the Seahawk game our immediate family spent time with friend David C. It was his first trip to Seattle and we took him to the Ballard Locks and then he joined the post-game crowd for dinner at the Spaghetti Factory. Then we dropped him at the airport for his red-eye.
We arrived home tired with two sleeping children in car seats. We pushed the garage door button. We pushed it again. And again. We tried different angles. Finally M went to the front door and came in that way. I got out of the car at that point and realized that it was VERY dark. Everywhere. There was one little dim light in our whole condo complex and it appeared to be a candle. Sure enough. The power was out.
We called the power company and apparently someone had hit a power pole. They said it would come on about 4am. Interestingly all the street lights in the neighborhood were working. (The last storm that knocked out power left those out too.) So between the street lights, candles and a flashlight, we had no trouble getting the kids to bed. Kyri thought it was play time so she and Daddy stayed up while Ben and I turned in early. At 5:55am I heard the printer turn on and the alarm clock began flashing.

The last time we lost electricity was a few weeks ago, right in the middle of a baking frenzy for a shower the next day. Talk about bad timing!
