First Day of School

from the mom

We took a day of rest yesterday to recover from vacation before Ben started to school today. I've been a little nervous since we went to his open house several weeks ago. He has a new teacher and there is a new "behaviorial" kid in his class. Last year we lucked out and all of the "special needs" were motor skills or language.

Today Ben was a little unnerved when we arrived and the little guy was crying. But he saw a familiar face and said, "Hi Xander." And at the end of the day he came running out and chattered non-stop on the way home about Miss Michele and Miss Sherrie. He was eating lunch when he said, "Ben is tired." And he went down happily for a nap after a few stories. He and I get a long much better when he is in preschool. I haven't figured it out but I think he just needs a little space away from me. I see a lot of similarities in our personalities and maybe it is those things which make us so easily annoyed with each other.

But today when I picked him up, one of his teachers told me he was so fun to have because he is always smiling. I'm proud of him.

Welcome home!! So glad Ben likes his new teachers. Don't need to worry about Ben: he is such a happy child and he seems to love being around other kids.
