Poor Ben

from the mom

Ben's expanded verbal usage has given us a lot of laughs recently. Some of our favorites:

After a recent fruit fly explosion in which I was apparently quite celebratory when I killed one, Ben would clap his hands and yell: "Got it."

When we go to the park he climbs up the playground equipment reciting loudly: "Don't fall Ben." "Be careful Ben" is another favorite.

Recently after a bout of illness in our family, he has become quite enamored of: "Poor Kyri," "Poor Daddy," "Poor Mommy," and his favorite, "Poor Ben."

When Addie finally started talking (just a little younger than Ben), one of her first statements was when she climbed up on our counter and gazed down at the kitchen floor. "Careful, Addie. Might fall down." I can't say she listened much to her own advice.

Glad to read Ben's own thoughts in his own words!

Mrs Holland used to tell us the story of one of her children, who, when climbing all over their upright piano, was singing "Oh be careful little feet where you go."
Ben's admonitions to himself reminded me of that :)
