from the mom
My aunt and uncle visited us a couple of weeks ago and came bearing gifts. My aunt is an amazing gift giver who always seem to know just what will be appreciated. She brought Ben a squishy frog that lights up when squeezed and a small lizard. She told us that the lizard would grow if kept in a jar of water for a few days.
So I took Ben and he watched as I put the lizard in a jar of water. He thought it was neat for a few seconds and then started to look worried: "All done water. All done," he kept repeating as he desperately tried to remove the lizard. I eventually put the jar out of reach on top of the refrigerator and told him to watch it grow. He shot it worried, remorseful looks over the next day or so and I started to realize he thought we had drowned the poor thing. I was amazed at his sensitivity.
So we removed it a few days later, now grown huge. And he promptly pulled off his tail. So much for sensitivity.
