from the mom
Since Ben is a late-language bloomer I have often wondered if he is listening. A few weeks ago when he put on his "ARMY" t-shirt I mentioned that Grandpa had been in the ARMY. This morning as he put on his shirt, he said: "A-R-M-Y, ARMY, Grandpa, Yay!" I guess he was paying attention.
Since the Daddy was working LONG hours today, we treated ourselves to a trip to consumeristic America. Okay, Target. Or as Ben identifies it: "red cart." We picked up some things for "Key-girl." Mommy picked her out a short-sheeved white shirt (since she is wearing her one white shirt to pieces because it matches everything) and with Ben's help we picked her out some black shoes with flowers on them. Ben really liked the flowers and Mom liked that they will match most of her clothes.
But Ben's was the BIG PURCHASE! He has been choosing to watch his "potty time" DVDs and showing a real interest. Mom had noted that our potty chair did not look like the ones in the DVDs. And we have three bathrooms. So she let Ben help pick one out.
We came home and unwrapped our things. Ben wanted to sit on it. So he did. Then he wanted his diaper off. During the course of an hour he sat on it, wiped, flushed, put it away, closed the toilet lid, and washed his hands about a dozen times. (Sorry to my water conservationist friends, but you just wait...). It is a good idea we've recently started purchasing toilet paper in bulk from Costco. While nothing has come out just yet, we're off to a good start. With three more days of school left, this has taken top priority for summer education.
