Prayers of A 3-Year Old

from the mom

As you may be aware Ben has a speech delay. It makes communication interesting at times.

Last night as M was tucking him in bed he asked him what he wanted to pray for. For mommy? Silence. For Kyri? Silence. That Jesus will help you learn to count? YES! (He communicates affirmation in a string of excited speech that we can't quite make out.) So they prayed that Jesus would help Ben learn to count. (This is a current obsession.)

This morning I asked Ben if he would like to count. He proceeded to correctly count from 1-10. I excitedly began to cheer (the only number that was hard to recognize was 7) and exclaim at his answered prayer. Then I realized he had kept going. I heard "18, 19, 20" at the end. Now that was a fast answer to a little boy's prayer.

Praise God! I love the way God answers little one's prayers. Makes me want to learn from their hearts. Then I feel shamed b/c I remember the scriptures where Jesus tells us to become like little children. How encouraging to see this in your own home! :)

Yay for childhood faith! And for a God who rewards it!

Very precious. You should cut and paste this blog entry into a journal for him on his answered prayers. Kev's mom kept an answered prayer journal for Kevin from his childhood and it is very faith-building and precious.
