The Lion and The Lamb

from the mom

My mom reports that the remote control car lasted 5 or 6 days before it had gone off one too many high jumps and started losing wheels. It was worth the $10 for the enjoyment he got out of it and for him to have something to play with when we were at a rental house. Consider the cost of a movie ticket or entrance to the zoo.

Ben enjoyed watching auto racing on TV with Grandpa; he would snuggle up to him and watch for quite some time. He got his fair share of testosterone!

Yesterday Ben received a cassette tape in the mail with his godfather reading to him from The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes by Kenneth Taylor. He had given him the book in January. It is pretty text heavy but this morning when both M, and later, I went in to his room, he was reading on his bed. So I put the tape in and gave him the book. He made it quite a while, turning the page when a new page was announced. It is a wonderful gift that Ben will really treasure.

Ben has taken to "reading" in bed for an hour or two every night. Last night I found him after 10pm with his light off, reading as best he could by the street light. Both M and I can appreciate this quality. I appreciate that he wakes up slowly and often has to be helped up in the morning.

This boy is multi-dimensional and most definitely ours.

Wow, I'm impressed by Ben's attention span at such a young age. That's awesome. Hopefully he'll continue his love of books for the rest of his life.

Ben, I used to pull the covers over my head and use a flashlight (that Mom tried to keep hiding)!!
