We received notice that a Level II sex offender moved into our block. The Sheriff's department hand-delivered a notice, picture, and description of the crime today. The guy has served 8 1/2 years for child rape and has had at least three victims. Puts a whole new spin on going to the mailbox. And we're glad we don't own this place. We checked out the sex offender database when we moved here but now it is all for naught.

Hey R,
my senior paper was on sex offender registries. One of the more interesting things I discovered was that some jurisdictions require the offender to personally deliver notice to all his/her new neighbors. Wouldn't that be freaky!
