from the tired mom
M is off to his monthly prayer breakfast on this quiet foggy Saturday and both little ones are still sleeping. I've managed a shower already and the house is peacefully still. Most of us are sick with colds. It is Kyrie's third one in three months and I'm wondering why. She takes after her dad's family--hardy and non-complaining. Ben and I are definitely from my side--we both wither and weep when sick. At this point the house is suspect. It passed the carbon monoxide test. Today we are doing a mold test.
I took Kyri for a cranial-sacral appointment on Thursday. You may recall we took her at 3 days old and the woman was a little too weird for us. This appointment was the real thing, and I felt horrible that I hadn't done it sooner. She has had congestion since birth and I recently learned cranial sacral massage can relieve it. It is hard to tell if a change has happened there since she has a cold, but without me saying anything at all, the therapist asked if she had any trouble eating. She proceeded to describe to me the condition of the roof of her mouth, which was not as it should be. She worked with it and now Kyri is eating with much less work. I am having guilt that her initial trouble eating and gaining weight could have been solved if I had made this appointment much sooner. She also discovered a little twist in her cervical spine, probably the result of her birth contortions. The therapist could actually tell which way she had twisted in the birth canal from the condition of her body.
Ben has discovered hygiene in a big way. I bought him a step stool for the bathroom and we are now in danger of exceeding our budget for soap. I noticed his light was on at 9:45pm last night and M went to investigate. He found him in his bathroom laboriously washing his hands. His Grandpa B (who paid attention in microbiology)will be so proud.
Now that he has his own bed, he will get up and get books and he reads when he is supposed to be napping or sleeping at night. This has made for some late nights. But the result is he is sleeping in this morning and I am not keen to stop that behavior.
Sleep in heavenly peace....
