I: Kyri, you recently made your first trip on an airplane. How was that?
K: Well, I don't know what that was all about but Mom and Dad held me for hours without putting me down. I took a nap with Dad and a nap with Mom. I loved that part. My head hurt on the way down when we came back. That was horrible and I cried for a while.
I: Ben, what is your favorite part about riding on airplanes?
B: On the way home I got to use the Digeplayer when I woke up from my nap. I watched a funny movie and some cartoons. And I could push the buttons as much as I wanted.
I: Ben, you had a birthday back in D.C. Did you do anything special?
B: I'm not sure what the whole "birthday" thing is all about. Basically I keep hearing that I'm 3 now. Whatever. But I did get to go to Playland at McDonalds and play with some kids. They brought me popcorn to eat. Then that night we went to Meskerem with some of my favorite adults. Mom and Dad thought it was for them but I LOVE Ethiopian food. Everyone eats it with their hands and they always bring me a hard-boiled egg in spicy sauce.
I: Did you do anything else fun on the trip?
B: Well, we stayed at great Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Larry's house and my Nana and Grandpa came to visit, along with some of my uncles and an aunt. And I got to sleep in a big bed the whole trip. Dad says I fell off twice the first night but I don't remember. I didn't even wake up. At the hotel I had a really big bed to myself and Dad would always cuddle with me before I went to sleep. I also liked the walks we took in the City! And my favorite was the elevator. I learned which buttons to push. Once I tried to go ride it by myself but Mom caught me before I got down the hall.
I: Kyri, did you have any favorite parts of the trip?
K: People liked to hold me a lot and I slept with my mom a lot more than usual. And I liked the cool rides in the stroller. There was so much to see.

I'm glad the kids did so well for you, in general, on your trip!
We just got off a cross-country plane trip, too, and I swear I will NEVER set foot on a plane with a toddler ever again UNLESS we also have a Digeplayer. Those things (from what I observed) are worth their weight in gold!!!
