from the mom
On the premise of introducing my friend to my favorite store, I found myself at Secondi. I've always shopped on the weekend when you have to take a number to get a dressing room. It was nice to go on a Thursday when it was calm. We chatted with the owner for awhile. She receives consignments from all over; a box from the midwest had just arrived. We educated her on blogs and talked about credit scams. K bought a fabulous coat and I found the Prada shoes for only $66. (My husband wonders how anything so ordinary-looking could cost over $200 retail. Unfortunately he can't try them on which would help him understand.) I found a striped Italian sweater for $17 and my share of the clothing budget has been spent into May. But when will I be back in D.C. again?
While I was out and M had the kids, I also took K to Teaism. I had taken Ben and Kyri to a different location on Tuesday with Dana's help, but they just weren't that impressed.
I was with my children constantly until the Thursday morning break. It was my only chance to ride the Metro and feel unencumbered the whole trip. These moments are good for me, because after an hour I start to miss them. My children were fabulous little travelers and I was so proud of them.

I know what you mean! We got to go out yesterday and it was SO nice to feel footloose and fancy-free, but as soon as we left the show I started missing Jane and hoping she'd been all right.
So glad you had a good time in DC! Wish we were better at overlapping our visits! =)
I've already had compliments on the coat! Thanks for taking me, R!
