Kyrie watches this evening's address
Kyrie delivered the following response to the State of the Union Address
Good evening. On behalf of cute little girls everywhere, especially my new friend Jade, it's an honor for me to give this response to President Bush's address.
Mr. President, I want to thank you for recognizing Julie Clark, founder of Baby Einstein. My daddy says this lady has given parents a "guilt-free alternative for television babysitting," whatever that means. You may appreciate her "great enterprising spirit," but my brother and I just like her movies.
Mr. President, you had a lot of good advice for what you called the "Democratic Majority." My mommy says if the Republican Majority had followed that advice in the last six years there wouldn't be a Democratic one. Whatever.
You talked a lot about balancing a "budget." My mommy and daddy talk about this almost every day. The difference is they actually do it.
Five years ago, you rose above partisan differences to pass the No Child Left Behind Act. Unfortunately, this reform is not enough. I propose a new piece of legislation for Congress: the No Child Left with a Dirty Behind Act. In millions of homes across this great nation, parents try to "ignore the smell" or get the other parent to "change the dirty." Well, Mr. President, enough is enough. Our country will not be competitive until every child has a clean bottom.
Thank you, and God Bless America.

So.....I actually checked out a Baby Einstein video from the library last night and we popped it in to see what Joshua thought. I have a full post on my blog forthcoming.
For starters, while Joshua did seem to enjoy the things flying across the screen, his daddy absolutely threw a fit over the midi version of the classical music. We had to mute the video and play the REAL music. No son of ours will listen to midi. Apparently.
LOL! :D That's so great and gave me a good chuckle this morning.
Amen on the budget. Somehow countless Americans manage to live on a budget successfully because they (we) put a cap on spending, live with less, and make sacrifices. The government should learn from us. But I guess it's easier to spend someone else's money.
Mr. Darren appreciated your insightful comments about the "Democratic minority." Meanwhile, Miss Sara cut-and-pasted your new proposed legislation to a teacher friend, pointing out how much less paperwork she'd be saddled with this time around.

Majority. Not minority. Whatever. I hate politics anyway.

Kyrie, "No Behind Left Dirty" is sound advice. I appreciate hearing it from someone with experience. I'm soon to be a father and though I don't look forward to cleaning dirty bottoms, I acknowledge it as my responsibility and do, hereby solemnly swear to leave no behind dirty in my home.

Oooo, look who's giving advice to her Uncle Kris?! ;-)
