from Ben's mom
Thursday night Ben came down with what sounded like croup and turned really nasty later. All the symptoms of the bronchiolitis he had back in February when he ended up in ER. He didn't eat, barely drank anything, and his breathing was very labored. Thursday and Friday we didn't really get much sleep at all. We had to break down and use the Tylenol with Codeine we had from the last bout. He hates his inhaler, but he had to have it; it was the only thing that improved his breathing. I thought we were in for a long haul but he woke up a little better on Saturday and much better yesterday. The cough is lingering and a little bit of a cold, but his energy is back and he is getting into trouble again. (For two days he just wanted to lay on our bed and watch DVDs.)
I had moments of panic about what having two kids would be like. M and I were SO TIRED and I couldn't imagine having to take care of a second. But I suppose we will receive grace for those moments too.
M's parents arrived Friday night and Saturday, we went to Mt. St. Helens. It was a beautiful day and it was a free day which was nice and we enjoyed Johnston Ridge Observatory. Ben liked the short movies we watched on the eruption and thrived on being in the sunshine.
Yesterday, we took a trip down the Oregon Coast, stopping in Astoria, Seaside, and Cannon Beach before heading to Portland and back. Ben did well again; he seemed to like the travel. He didn't have a lot of energy but wanted out of the house so the trips were fun for him. We wore out M's parents and today they are off exploring the Puget Sound area by themselves.
Ben and I are both catching up on sleep still and M is preparing for a crazy week at work that started with a 6:30 radio interview this morning.

That's a lot to do without much sleep! Sounds like you had fun and it was nice for Michael's folks to have some time with you on our beautiful West Coast. Now get more sleep you all!
