from Ben's mom
I remember taking a class before Ben was born where the instructor told us stories about some of the brain lapses she and her pregnant friends had. The one that stood out was the mom who went to the door for the UPS man who worked very hard not to stare at her but was unsuccessful. She looked down to see what she had spilled this time to discover she had gone to the door without her shirt. It scared me enough that when the doorbell rings I run through a mental checklist: shirt-check; pants-check. Ok, all good.
My lapse was not quite so embarrassing. Yesterday I could not find the house keys. M had surprised us with a lunchtime visit, so I even blamed him and decided he must have taken my keys with him back to work. As 5pm approached, a thought occurred and I went to the front door and there they were, hanging in the lock, inviting any intruder who happened by into my home. I had left them there HOURS before when I took some mail out to the mailbox. Hopefully that is the end of the stupid pregnant lapses.

I hate to say it as I don't have the "pregnant brain lapse" excuse, but I lost my house keys yesterday, while riding with a friend, and we turned around and finally pulled off the street while I made a few phone calls before finding them in my purse...
But then the day before, I lost my car keys at work...Fortunately, my employer found them outside on the ground the next day...
I refuse to use the excuse of age, but I can't use your excuse either.

Oh my goodness, I've had so many pregnant lapses. And I've even left my keys in the door, outside, on two different ocaissions recently when NOT pregnant! sigh ...
Hmmmmm....not sure you can blame that on pregnancy. I left my keys in my door all night a while back and had no idea until the next morning when one of my neighbors knocked on my door to let me know they were there. I have no idea why I forgot, but most definitely can't blame it on pregnancy! LOL
I left the door bolted and wide open when I left for a walk the other day. I some how managed to not quite close the door, turn the lock and walk away. When I returned the wind and blown my door wide open for anyone to walk right inside!! Ah!!! I totally blamed that one on pregnancy:)
I think it's just something that happens to everyone from time to time, particularly when you have a lot on your mind. Last month I had several days in a row where I forgot something obvious. I lost my keys, then found them. I lost my cell phone - it was on my bed. I forgot things that were under my nose. It was quite stressful. No I wasn't pregnant... it was apparently overload of the brain. See, it happens to everyone. And yes, I've left my keys in the door too and been all over the house and can't find them!
Ahem, if I may offer a little observation of mine. I have noticed that there is a common thread that runs though all these stories.
It's not that everyone is pregnant, though I plan on avoiding that, and I suspect that the commonality of the keys is circumstancial as well.
Has anyone noticed that all these things happened to women?

Actually the best story I got was privately emailed by a male who had TOO MUCH PRIDE to post it. He left his keys in his car and left it running all day. So maybe what we have here is that women have more humility. (Are you my brother? You use Ahem alot. Though, it sounds like it could be a KK comment too.)-rlr
