from Ben's mom
The weekend took us south to Oregon after successfully leaving Ben with a babysitter for a few hours on Friday afternoon to attend a class.
We made it to Corvallis on Friday and then Saturday went to Canyonville for a picnic to celebrate my grandmother's 92nd birthday. My aunts, uncle, and several cousins made it too, along with my parents. It was really hot and despite thinking I was drinking plenty of water, I FELT the last trimester and was a little sick from dehydration.
Sunday, we took advantage of Ben's grandparents not wanting to part from him and went ahead to Portland where M and I had a memorable date. We were given a gift certificate to the Melting Pot nine months ago and have been saving it for something special. As a new baby will make going out alone even more difficult, we decided the time was now. And going in Portland meant no tax, which saved us about $8. And it is a cool location, largely underground in downtown. We had to walk down steps that looked like a descent to a subway.
As my stomach is sharing space with a person, I skipped the entree and just enjoyed the good stuff (cheese fondue, salad, chocolate fondue) and a lot of strawberry lemonade on the 95 degree day. I'm not sure how to handle a 2-hour dinner anymore without clean-ups and refills and bibs. But we managed just fine (and look forward to managing again someday!).
Then we went to the airport where we met Ben who had ridden his Grandpa's airport shuttle up with his Grammy. We picked him up and came on home, thoroughly exhausted, but glad we'd made the trip.

Sounds like a fun date! ~M
I am glad you were finally about to use it, and it sounds like you used it at the perfect time!
