Decorating

from Ben's mom

We spent much of the weekend finishing unpacking all the things we had stored in the guest room and hanging pictures, etc...around the house. We have a lot of wall art but unfortunately, none of it matches very well. Most of it has sentimental value and therefore, we are going to have to have a very big house some day. In the meantime, we made the guest room theme "family." There is an odd assortment of frames that don't match but all the pictures are of us and our families and one of the Holy Family to top it off. Our book shelves aren't on public display so we don't look literary until you open the closets.

In the midst of all the unpacking, I sorted out lots of things for a garage sale. We have an impossible place for one, so I am hoping a friend in the area who plans to have one later in the summer will let me join her. Looking at all this stuff makes me realize that I should never complain of being poor. It also makes me more careful of what I buy. I don't want to be a mindless consumer. And I'm really not looking forward to the next move.

I noticed that "Eat Local" thing on the right column. I heard this guy on the radio saying that to truly be organic, one must only use local products, not things shipped or trucked or flown from other places. Interesting "leave no trace" idea.
