from Ben's mom
I always find it interesting when people post what they are reading on their blogs. I did it for awhile and then got too critical. If I was reading too much, I wondered if I was neglecting my other duties; if my books stayed on my list forever, I felt like something was wrong with me that I wasn't getting my reading done.
Lately, I've done a LOT of reading. And little housework. Hopefully things will balance out in a few weeks and I'll be a little more productive. But I have enjoyed reading more. I've appreciated the suggestions I received and have read "East of Eden" (definitely a Great Book), and have "Will in the World" on hold at the library. I have read nearly all of Lawhead's books and "Byzantium" is just about my favorite. (I really liked "Avalon" too.) Currently M and I are reading the Pendragon Cycle series.
I recently discovered a new author that I was very impressed with in the "New Fiction" display at the library. Gwen Hyman Rubio has written "Icy Sparks" (which Oprah selected for her Book Club) and now "The Woodsman's Daughter." I appreciated the redemptive tone of her southern fiction and found both hard to put down.
I have a few others I want to get to including Liz Curtis Higgs and the Lord Peter books. (If Dorothy Dunnett gives DJ nightmares, I'm a little worried.) As much as I would like to be working on my photo albums, or keeping the house cleaner, when the only comfortable position is horizontal, I do get a lot of reading done.

R, I think you are too hard on yourself. You're pregnant, for pete's sake. Enjoy the extra reading! The housework really can wait. :) BTW, we just saw a for rent sign in our neighborhood; we're trying to find the house and the info for you guys.
