from Ben's mom
Last night we were in the living room and Ben was playing with a new balloon. It was dancing around on our living room ceiling when it popped. Immediately, we heard "Oh, oh, oh" in a high breathy voice, followed by "uh-oh." Then we watched Ben spin in circles looking at the ceiling, trying to discover what had happended to his orange balloon. He was genuinely perplexed, and eventually we had to direct him to the orange pieces of it scattered about. Then he seemed to think it was pretty cool. Which concerns me.... I hate the sound of balloons popping. And I suspect he'll try to make it happen again.

While working in pediatrics, we were warned about kids and balloons. If they pop them around their mouth, they can sufficate and kids die from this every day so be very careful.

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Boys!!! Popping balloons is the least of your worries. Better get used to it and embrace it, R, it only gets better and louder and messier and cooler.
What J.R. said. Last time we went to get a haircut, Stuart finished before Addie and got his balloon. He had popped it before we even got to the car - keys and balloons do not go well together, he found out. Apparently he thought the loud noise was sufficient compensation for losing the balloon, though.

Ditto to what JRP says! It does only bet bigger and messier... this is what my brother said about basic training this summer... "the cool part will be the m16, m24b (guns) grenade, c-4 and that kinda stuff. should be fun." YIKES. :)
