from Ben's mom
For the second time this week, M was sent out of the house to get the one and only thing I could tolerate eating. Sadly, while I have wonderful (and easy) things to make here at home, I can't open the door of the refrigerator without the food smells sending me running to my room to lay down. So Monday night, when M was sick with a cold, I determined that I could only eat macaroni and cheese and though I had all the ingredients to make it the old-fashioned way, the only kind that appealed was the box kind. So off he went.
Last night, it was Chinese. I don't normally choose Chinese. I prefer tastier Asian--Vietnamese and Thai always win the day. Except when I am pregnant. When I was pregnant with Ben, we lived just down the street from a Chinese place. I discovered Vegetable Lo Mein and it became my pregnancy staple. And so it hit me. The need for Vegetable Lo Mein. I discovered some on-line menus for local Chinese places and found some of the required substance.
An added benefit, is that there are always plenty of leftovers. And since I no longer rise early to make my husband a lunch, he is usually left scrambling in the morning for something edible to take. Today he took our leftovers for his lunch. Because as I told him, this baby likes Chinese, but not leftover Chinese.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! HA! I'm THRILLED with *this* post. ;) (The last made me think you were some sort of super hero with broccoli and going all natural.) But I'm pleased to see I'm not the only consumer of maccaroni and cheese (out of the box, no less). It's just what one wants and I can't explain it. I love it. And JB can sympathize with M on lunches these days. I hold my breath when opening the frige. It's perfectly ghastly in there!
I LOVE Lo Mein. I just hope I'll love it no matter what stage of life I'm in.
I realize it's all part of "the curse" but I'm still going to ask God, when I get to heaven, why he allows pregnant women to get so sick when they smell food. It's so inconvenient when you have a family to feed and can't make food.
Sorry, Rachelle... When I was expecting you, the doctor told me to eat starchy food, so I did eat lots of
that Mac & Cheese from a box, in addition to the malts and milkshakes that he wanted me to eat, because he wanted me to gain weight... Of course, the last week of my pregnancy, it was no fun to be sent in to be x-rayed to be sure I wasn't carrying twins!
Mom
Awwww... Praying for you pregnant mommies! I had that inability to open the fridge too... it's no fun!
