Forrest Wendell Bigger, 1921-2005

from Ben's mom

Forrest Wendell Bigger was born March 23, 1921. He died peacefully on November 19, 2005, his 64th wedding anniverary. His son Rick, daughter Sandi and her husband Rick were with him at the hospital.

Thursday, Ben came to see him and he lit up. Ben and I had been talking a lot about how that was my "grandpa" and he looked right at him and said, "Bam-pah." Grandpa said, "He said 'Grandpa'." Friday afternoon, when they unhooked all the monitors and took him off oxygen, many of us spoke to him. He showed recognition. He knew what was happening. My uncle had asked him on Monday if he was afraid of death and he had said he was not, that he was ready.

He lived well and he died well. It was an honor and a privilege to be there with him. We miss him so much, but his was a life well-lived. A life of no regrets.

I am so glad Ben got to say "good bye" to his great-grandpa. I'm so glad you were able to make it there. Hard to fathom now how in a blink of an eye we'll all be together again... I rejoice that your grandfather lived such a good and godly life. What an amazing man!

I am so sorry for your loss. How wonderful that you were able to say goodbye and that Ben could lift his spirits with his words. My love to you and your family,

I just read your entry now. I'm sorry about your grandfather's death. Joshua and I just had a very close friend die, and although he wasn't related to us, it has been hard knowing that he is no longer here.
