I Didn't Remember....

Today we took Dad to the airport and then we went to visit Grammy and Grandpa. First, I had to have my hair cut AGAIN. We had driven a long way and I was glad to get out and find some rocks. I really didn't want to sit still. But I did.

Then I went in Grammy's car and Mom left. I was very upset with her and she didn't tell me when I would see her again and she had forgotten my milk in the morning. (I know I told her apple juice was fine but I changed my mind when she left. Anyone can give me apple juice; she has to be there for the milk.) I have to admit I lost it and I cried and cried. Grammy kept telling me that Mom was in the car behind us but I couldn't see her. Then Grammy got me out and I saw her. But she put me back in the car and I told her not to do that. But it was better when she came and sat next to me and we went to Grammy's house.

Great-Oompa is here and he wanted to see me swing. No problem! Only I didn't remember the swing being so far up off the ground and I didn't remember it making my tummy feel funny. And I didn't really like it. In fact I haven't been that scared before and Mom and Grammy took one look at my face and stopped it. Grammy got me out and Mom made me get back in with her "to face my fears." I was willing to do that with her but when she wanted me to go it alone, I said, "Uh-uh, no way, not now." "Ok Ben, maybe we'll try again after your nap."

Ben, my friend, it sounds like you had a pretty rough day. I'm sure it will get better, though - being at a grandparents' house always improves life.

Especially in the case of my grandparents, who bake me mincemeat pie and gumdrop cake. Yummy!

It did get better. I met a nice dog who came over and played with me and I decided I really did like the swing after all. I am just bigger and I know better what will happen if I let go. That scared me at first.
