from Ben's mom
Before you feel too sorry for me, it is better that I have insomnia than Ben. When he has it, I get to stay up anyway.
My Oompa came through surgery nicely and the surgeon said the break wasn't as bad as he had originally thought. He is very drugged up but he will leave the hospital today and go to a convalescence center for a couple of weeks. When I talked to him this afternoon, he was a little confused but held a nice conversation with me about the high cost of licensing and registration in Washington State. So he was aware!
We discovered today that MJR has inadvertently been supplying my frequent flyer no. on his recent business travels. It has worked. I had been watching his balance and wondering why it was taking so long for him to accumulate miles. Then I checked mine today and discovered I had enough for another free ticket! In addition to that bonus, MJR returned from his recent business travels with a supply of Aveda shampoo/lotion/soap samples from his very nice hotel. He has learned from me to be a freebie scavenger.
To round out his recent trip, his luggage was delivered yesterday morning at 1:30 a.m.--some 27 hours after he landed. We were both totally out of it and only today did MJR realize that before he called the house, the delivery guy had rung the doorbell. I heard it; I just didn't get up. Fortunately, the phone call helped MJR to the door and his belongings safely made it inside.

Wow, it's amazing they gave you the miles! I suppose it's because you have the same last name. I flew a couple times after I got married and they wouldn't credit me the miles because my last name had changed. I had to fax my marriage license twice before they'd give me the credit. In the end it wasn't so bad - they gave me 5 months of Gold status and 5,000 miles for the trouble.
