Apology Accepted

from Ben's mom

We were going to bed last night when MJR looked at me in dead earnest and said, "I need to ask your forgiveness for something."

I erupted into giggles. We never talk this way. If we have an apology, we just come out with it and don't set it up in melodramatic fashion. So I was prepared for a joke.

"Don't laugh. I am being serious." I looked into his eyes and laughed harder. "Fine, you are not in the correct frame of mind for this." He rolled over.

"Ok, ok, I'm sorry. I will be serious." I held on until he looked at me again.

"Well, as I was leaving work I looked at the calendar. And I need to apologize because I completely forgot our engagement anniversary." I looked at him blankly. "Today is August 16 and I didn't have a chance to do anything."

At this point, I had to laugh. I had completely forgotten too. I wonder how long until we forget our wedding anniversary. We're just having too much fun to stop and consider these things.
