Thanksgiving Prayer

Dear God,

Since this is my first Thanksgiving, my parents have helped me write this prayer to You.

I could have been a crack baby, or an AIDS baby, or a baby who didn't even get to live, but instead I was born into a family with two loving parents who welcomed me joyfully. Thank you that they love You and love each other. Thank you for good health and a home where I am safe and warm.

Thank you for grandparents, aunts, and uncles who love me, love each other and love You.

Thank you for toys and books that help me learn about the world and make life a lot more fun. Thank you for dogs and ducks that make me smile.

Thank you for good food (even squash), that helps me grow big and strong.

Mom says there are a lot more things to thank You for that I can't even fathom now, but I will trust her and say thanks for all the things I don't know yet.

My parents say that to whom much is given much is expected, and I want to grow up and make a difference for You. My parents say this world is better because of me, but I want to make it even more so with Your help.

Oh, and thank you for Thanksgiving.

Love,

Ben
