Ten Years Ago Today...

from Ben's mom

Picked up the journal I kept ten years ago while I was in England. On 18 Oct 1994 my morning began when my friend next door Connie woke me up to say that one of our theology class mates Nick Lyness had offered to sell us his Spin Doctors tickets because he had an obligation that prevented him from going. So Connie, Anna and I bought these tickets and then spent the time figuring how we would get to Cambridge. We took British Rail and a taxi (because we were late) to The Corn Exchange. The CE used to be just what it says--a farmer's market. Now it is Cambridge's (and indeed one of England's) premier concert venue.

It was a true cultural experience. We took to wandering around Cambridge after the concert, nearly missing the last train to London. Then we narrowly averted missing the last Tube train back to our stop, literally squeezing through a closing station door and catching the last train.

I have had many adventures with these two (Connie & Anna) since and am honored to be Matron of Honor to Anna in San Antonio this December.
