from Ben's mom
Sleeplessness continues here in the Pacific Northwest. Ben continues to suffer from tooth pain, stomach pain, a need for comfort food, and the loss of his "passy"-all between the hours of midnight (when he finally succumbs to sleep for the first time since early evening) and 7. His dad has overcome his insomniac tendency and developed an amazing ability to sleepwalk into his room and deliver him to Mom when after getting up five or six times in the night she finds she absolutely cannot rise one more time. To make it worse, his mother has lost her ability to stop, drop, and sleep in a 20-second period and now finds she suffers from jitters (her aunts and mom warned her it would come), and a very active mind until about 3 am.
Meanwhile, she too has decided she understands why mothers have trouble keeping immaculate houses. And this with only ONE child. She has a neurotic need to pick up the house and does that all day to find she has accomplished little else. Meanwhile, the real cleaning, the writing project with Sara, exercise, the baby book, and getting dressed before noon are seldom accomplished leaving her frustrated and full of angst. (She really needs to fulfill her creative side.) She misses blocks of time and is working on learning to transition faster. She has also had to turn off Instant Messenger and limit her time on the computer. But she is a whole lot less judgmental.
