Tips for Tots

Dear Fellow Babies,

Here are some things I've discovered make wonderful musical instruments. I am not listing the obvious, like rattles. One word of caution: moms get headaches from too much noise. So know when to stop or she might take it all away.

Stock pots and a wooden spoon: Great drums. Ringo, here I come. Of course a metal spoon would be better, but haven't had any luck convincing mom of that.

Vitamin bottles (with vitamins inside): Of course, your mom will freak out if you are so good at shaking it, that the lid comes off spilling horse-sized vitamins all about you. These make a great tambourine sound and if you have my talent, you can rattle something else at the same time to make two sounds.

Keys: I'm told all of you will figure this one out on your own. But still, they are the best because they are transportable, relatively light, and easy to use.

Toy containers: I have some blocks in a rubbermaid container. I recently discovered I could dump out the blocks and turn the container over and get a nice hollow sound.

I hope all of you are creative and start practicing now. I hope to start a band in a few years and I'll need a lot of talent. So get to work.

Love,
Ben
