from Ben's mom
My friend Geni told me that breastfeeding was a nice time to get a little reading done. Until recently I didn't understand at all how this was accomplished, but as Ben and I grow more experienced, I am finally able to read at times. (Other times, I have a little hand grabbing at the book and need to focus on the little face that goes with it.)
Currently, I am reading Prayer for Beginners by Peter Kreeft. Though I've been praying for 30+ years now, I still feel like a beginner. It is a hard skill to learn, communication with a being I can't see. Especially as a Type-A worrier who spends time mentally trying to solve problems I never will. I can be a pretty bad listener too.
Here is a quote that I am trying to internalize forever: "He does not want only our 'quality time' (a fake and dishonest phrase if there ever was one; ask any child); he wants all our time, for the same reason he does not want only part of our heart but our whole heart: because he is our Lover, not our boss."
Anyway, a good book and perfect for reading when you have only snippets of time.

Kreeft is one of my very favourite authors, although I haven't read as many of his books as I would like to. I had to read "Back to Virtue" in my freshman seminar at Gordon College, and I was so impressed that I've read it every couple years since then.
